Shannon Airport (IATA: SNN, ICAO: EINN), or Aerfort na Sionna in Irish is one of Ireland's primary three airports
(along with Dublin Airport and Cork Airport). It is the second busiest airport in the Republic of Ireland (after Dublin)
with 3.7 million passengers in 2006. The airport is located in Shannon, County Clare, around 24 km from Ennis and 25 km
from Limerick City.
The largest operator at the airport is low-fares airline Ryanair, which will base a total of five aircraft at the
airport in 2008 operating over 30 routes during the summer season. Around 60% of passengers at Shannon travel on Ryanair.
The airport has U.S. border preclearance services, enabling US Bound passengers to have their paperwork dealt with
before their flight, saving time upon arrival. Dublin and Shannon are the only two European airports with such facililties.
